The ‘Catenian Association’ is a group of Catholic business and professional men.
The ‘Association’ is organised by ‘Circles’, a group of say, 30-50 men in a particular area, rather than on a parish basis. There are two ‘Circles’ overlapping in our parish:
‘Medway Towns Circle’ meet at “St George’s Hotel” 7-8 New Road, Chatham, on the first Wednesday of the month at 7.45 p.m.
‘Swale Circle’ at the “U.K. Paper Club”, Avenue of Remembrance, Sittingbourne on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.45 p.m.
The monthly meetings are formal, beginning and ending with prayers, followed by social activities, which in the ‘Swale Circle’ normally includes dinner.
The ‘Medway Towns Circle’ dine after meetings less frequently. “Ladies Nights”, when wives are invited, are held regularly; and once a year the local clergy are entertained to dinner.
It is in this social atmosphere that help and encouragement can be so easily given to Brothers and their families in their spiritual, social and business lives.
It is emphasised that the ‘Association’ is non-political and is not a fund-raising agent.
