Young people in year 9 at school (or above) are invited to join our ‘Parish Confirmation Programme’. The programme has recently been expanded and invitations are now issued in late September.
The specially developed programme then runs from November through to June when the Bishop administers the sacrament.
Catechists and candidates meet fortnightly on Sundays, usually after the 6.00 p.m. Mass and also over a weekend retreat (normally in March) during which the candidates have the chance to reflect and relax before making a final commitment to the Church.
The programme has been developed to enable participants to enjoy themselves and their membership of the Church.

Most candidates will choose a new Confirmation name and this should be the name of a saint. The important thing is that you know something about the saint and pray to that saint for help and guidance.You can browse the Catholic Online in the internet to find out more about Saints and their lives that will help you in naming a saint's for your confirmation. The other option is to look in parish's Catholic links webpage where you will find several useful and interesting links to external Catholic websites.
