St John Fisher is a Catholic comprehensive school for 1200 girls and boys aged 11-19 drawn from within the Deanery of Chatham. The Deanery extends from the Hoo Peninsular through the greater Medway Towns, to Sittingbourne and Sheppey. Though largely urban, the normal catchment area includes suburban and rural elements. The school is voluntary aided. Its mission is to help and encourage all pupils to develop individually, collectively and freely a way of life modelled on Christ, in accordance with the faith of the Roman Catholic Church.Despite the presence of six selective grammar schools in Medway, St. John Fisher Catholic comprehensive school has consistently achieved examination results at or above national norms:-
* Key stage 3 SATs results regularly surpass national norm;
* At GCSE, 50% or more of Year 11 pupils achieve five or more A*-C grades, 97% or more achieve at least one A*-G grade.
* At GNVQ (General National Vocational Qualification), sixth form students achieve 100% levels of accreditation;
*A recent upgrade of ICT and other facilities in the sixth form have helped to maintain attainment above national expectation when students leave in year 132. Many pupils now ho on to study at University.
