‘Traidcraft’ is a leading distributor in the UK of fairly traded products. Many of ‘Traidcraft’s’ products are sourced wholly or partially from what we refer to as the ‘Third World’: the countries of Africa, Asia and South America. The aim is to ensure that small producers in these countries obtain fair prices, and often assistance, for the goods they grow and make.In the parish we try to help our brothers and sisters by monthly sales of ‘Traidcraft’ products.
We do not aim to make a profit for the parish from these sales, and indeed we are often able to offer products at a discount against the same products in national supermarkets. We aim to hold sales on the weekend of the ‘first Sunday’ of each month, after the Saturday evening Mass at St. Thomas’, and the Sunday morning Masses at both churches. However, as a volunteer organisation sales may sometimes be rescheduled or cancelled.
In our parish we are only able to offer a selection of ‘Traidcraft’ produce, but the current ‘Traidcraft’ catalogue offers a wider range, not only of foodstuffs but also clothing and craft items: any item can be ordered from the catalogue, usually for delivery the following month.
If you are interested in looking at the current catalogue please ask the volunteers at one of our sales. If you wish to place an order, or contact us in any way, please leave a message clearly marked “Traidcraft” in the letter rack of St. Thomas’.
‘Traidcraft’ sales offer an opportunity to help others less fortunate than ourselves and share in their livelihood. The ‘Traidcraft’ volunteers look forward to welcoming you and your custom.
CYRENIANS
The Cyreniens are a charity porviding shleter for the homeless in our area. Non perishable food donations may be left in the box marked Cyrenians at the Traidcraft stall.
